Superior Sports Network chooses Zakiya Randall as Sports Person of The Month in July




Zakiya Randall first year of playing golf at age 10 was named the AJGA "PLAYER Of THE YEAR" after winning every tournament she entered.
She's already appeared on the Golf Channel, FRONT PAGE of Atlanta Journal-Constitution Newspaper, EBONY Magazine, Golf Week Magazine, Tavis Smiley Radio, XM Satellite Radio 169 House of Sports, African American Golfers Digest, the Atlanta Sporting Family Magazine, EBook Golf is Forever, featured on Tom Joyner morning show, appeared in numerous news articles across the country, K.E.N.N.Y - A Book for Kid Entrepreuers and Nominated as Finalist "Amateur Athlete of the Year".


A naturally gifted athlete she was winning Tennis junior tournaments but had never played golf until one day while walking with a group of men she was asked to hit a golf shot that the men in the group were having difficulty landing in the fairway. The then 10-year-old Zakiya Randall, was given a club and informed to 'Just swing through your body", Randall who had never played golf took the club back and through as instructed and flew the ball 160 yards in the air, over the water and into the fairway. Randall on her first swing - ever, 160 yards down the fairway… The men in the group were amazed.


Zakiya joined the Atlanta Junior Golf Association in 2002 and was named "Player of the Year" and Won every tournament entered including the Championship. She continued her dominance in the 2002-2003 season on the National Circuit of Plantations Junior Golf Tour by winning majors Nationally(Duke University, Harbour Town in Hilton Head, S.C., University of North Carolina and Chateau Elan). She went on to Win the Championship after just turning 12 years of age on the Plantations Junior Golf Tour after sinking a 15-foot putt on the last hole in Orlando, Florida to force a playoff and then Win it.
Zakiya has won Player of the Year and the Championship in several junior leagues. She was awarded "Player of Year" in 2005, after winning overall champion and every tournament she entered in her division in 2005. She went on to win the Championship in her division in 2005 on the Georgia PGA Tour. Randall has already won 45 tournaments regionally and nationally.
Tanya Randall an IT consultant serves as her daughter's Business manager. The fortitude that it takes to maintain a child in golf is very demanding and Zakiya has succeeded from the moment she began playing at some of the highest levels in the game of golf, further demonstrates the perseverance and amazing talent of this golf phenom.
From the first swing to now Zakiya's passion and talent continues to abound. Zakiya became a member in 2006 of the PGA National Hole-In-One Club after dropping a shot on a PAR 3, 180 Yards!


Randall experienced a highlight of her career in 2006 by earning 1st Place Low-Medalist title in the U.S. Women’s Open qualifier in her first time ever playing in the event. At the local event, held at Horseshoe Bend Country Club in Roswell, Ga., she battled 47 pro and amateur golfers from across the country for one of thirteen sectional spots. She scored back-to-back birdies coming down the back nine and became the youngest and only Atlantan to qualify.
In May 2007, Zakiya qualified to play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship. The field included some of the best amateurs across the nation. Zakiya was the youngest participant in Georgia to qualify for the event.
Zakiya is involved with several volunteer organizations in the community and teaches reading and math to younger children. She is an avid fan of all sports and enjoys sharing her passion with children, men and women, younger and older alike.

Three years after that achievement, Zakiya continues to make great waves when it comes to golf. Even in her personal life, or outside of golf, she's making an impact. She also models, and she has been speaking to inspire young athletes and other teens as well.
